
LEARNING THROUGH PLAY
Mossley Pre-School firmly believes that children learn best through play.

Staff will work alongside parents to ensure the children's needs are met.The Key Person will share any information or records about the child with the parent.
Pre-Sshool offers a wide variety of equipment and activities to provide a balanced and flexible curriculum.Staff support and encourage the children to be independent and to initiate their own play.
We offer:
* Large scale and small scale physical apparatus.
* Role play equipment i.e. home corner, space ship, shop, hospital.
* Sand and water play.
* Malleable materials i.e. dough, play dough, plasticine, clay.
* Art/craft materials for collage and painting.
* Games and jigsaws for manipulative control and hand/eye co-ordination.
* Magnifiers, bug bottles, periscopes for investigative work.
* Musical instruments and tapes for drama, music and movement.
* Puppet Theatre.
* Old cameras, telephones and technological toys.
* Small world toys i.e. houses, furniture, people, trains, farm/zoo sets, dinosaurs and more.
TRIPS AND EVENTS
Every effort is made by the committee and staff to arrange a wide range of extra curricular activities and events. For example: Easter bonnet contest, Teddy bears picnic and summer trip.
Rising Fives children may also have short excursions for which your signature of consent will be requested.
DISCIPLINE & CHALLENGING BEHAVIOUR
No form of physical punishment is used or any punishment that would frighten or humiliate a child. Our aim is to redirect children away from confrontation and modify unacceptable behaviour by guidance through play.
The supervisor will try to modify inappropriate behaviour by working on a one to one basis with children. Parents will be made aware of any persistent difficulties.
